Winding down

Twenty-ten isn't exactly over but I'm definitely feeling ready to coast into the new year. In fact, I now have way more days of vacation before me than I do in the office (the "benefit" of not getting around to taking a vacation all year - why does this always happen?). I'm also turning 40 soon, and am looking forward to using the time off to start fixing the things I've allowed to get broken in life. And I don't mean just bicycles.

I did the autumn Bike Swap yesterday. There appeared to have been more sellers than there have been over the past few years, including me this time. I sat with my and BeanSS's semi-classic Schwinns, having lost all interest in the Slow Bike Movement. Yeah, it seems like fun to glide along on a classic bike, but the novelty of riding a creaking, 40-pound beast with steel rims and nearly nonexistent brakes quickly dissipates. I was stoked to have sold them both along with a few other items, though by the time I did, I'd missed out on any ganga deals. Oh well.

OK, I'm back now.

Some neighbors just came by with a dog-a-large, asking if she was mine. She's wasn't, but she does belong to a different neighbor. Fortunately, I was able to get the sweet, escape-artist pit bull marshmallow safely back in her yard, though not without playing with her for a while first. My own jealous dogs are currently not very happy with me.

Well, it appears that I've piddled away enough time working on this blog that I don't have time to get in a bike ride before a scheduled afternoon errand kicks in. I do, however, have time to lift weights. Whee.
