Feel the burn

The post-ride burrito is a necessity here in the American West. Indeed, the consumption of one is demanded - in Veelz's words - by the mountain biking gods (whoever they are). Yesterday, I went against the natural order of things, and had a pre-ride burrito. And for this blasphemous transgression of bacon, eggs, potatoes, cheese, and red and green salsa (and a big cup of coffee), I was visited with the hellfire of heartburn for the entire time I rode my trail bike around the trails at Sweetwater. ¡No mas!

This morning, after a repentant bowl of cereal for breakfast, I took the singlespeed out for an acid reflux-free spin at the regional park. I did all right, considering that consecutive-day rides are becoming ever more rare as I get closer to the big four-oh. Then again, the mornings are too nice not to ride, so I down my naproxen sodium and make myself get going.

Keep the rubber side down.
