Yesterday was Race Day

No, not bike racing, but pretty fun nonetheless. I went down to the Santa Cruz Disc Golf Course and did the Ace Race. It's a friendly competition where everyone gets two of the same disc and goes through the course twice, taking two runs at an ace on each basket. It's a hole in one or it's nothing. I went hoping to have a good time and also because the schwag was worth more than the entry fee. My main goal, however, was to watch some better players so I could learn something. The group I was in included a professional DGer, and sure enough, he and another experienced player told me (nicely) that I was doing about 10 things wrong. Despite my poor form, I ended up doing OK. I hit metal once, had some near misses, and parked a few pretty close. I'm already looking forward to the one next autumn.
As for the non-disc sports, I'm hoping to put some knobby tires between me and the Earth tomorrow. My 29er trail bike has a flat, so I'll have to patch that up first. If I'm too lazy to fix the flat, I'll air up the singlespeed, which is the less lazy bike to ride. Go figure - I guess I'd rather ride than wrench.
