Black (Bike Parts) Friday

I just spent some time working on our singlespeed 29ers, installing the parts that make everything right again. BeanSS and I were heavily into mountain biking back in the 1990s, and no bike of ours ever saw dirt until the bar ends were bolted on.

All of BeanSS' bikes wear Cane Creek Ergo Control II handles. Oh, and WTB Dual Compound Trail Grips, too.

 

My favorites were (and thanks to bike swaps and eBay, still are) the Control Stix Team Issue models. I got these nearly 20-year old NOS ones a couple of weeks ago; they'll be scratched all to hell soon enough.


We got the bikes out for a test ride later in the day. Mountain biking in a short-sleeved jersey and shorts in late November is one of the many great things about Tucson. Last weekend's endless rain made for tacky, dust free trails, though fire roads aren't exactly the most challenging terrain, regardless of the soil moisture content.
